The shortlist has been decided!
After a morning spent in vigorous debate, the five judges unanimously agreed on the finalists for this competition.
Before coming together everyone mentioned the very high quality of writing this year, with the theme ‘Taking the Risk’ inspiring some thrilling stories and admiration for the sheer courage of some of these writers. Because of the high standard we agreed to make the shortlist four, rather than the usual three.
Those that didn’t quite make it but scored highly get a Highly Commended mention and the other worthy writers on the long list are Commended.

The Prize
All four will be invited to the Edward Stanford Travel Writing Awards in London on 20th March, where the winner will be revealed.
The winner will receive a five nights’ all-inclusive stay at Calabash Cove Resort & Spa on the island of St Lucia, in a Sunset Oceanview Junior Suite. They will also receives a paid commission to write about their trip for Traveller magazine.
