In 1971, Gill Campbell joined an exploratory expedition that spent four months establishing an overland route from London to Singapore. After teaching in New Zealand, she backpacked across the Pacific, South America and the Caribbean – at a time when guidebooks were almost non-existent. Gill has never stopped exploring, having visited over 140 countries and walked all the UK’s National Trails. Alistair Campbell's early travels were often business related, spending months (even years) working in European and Asian cities. Whenever not working, he was walking, talking, eating and drinking with local people. Differences between countries and peoples have always fascinated him; he constantly looks for that new place to visit or that new person with stories to tell. The Campbells have written Bradt’s Greenland, and co-authored or updated two Devon books in Bradt’s award-winning series of Slow Travel Guides. They blog at travelblog.org/Bloggers/Postcards and now live in Devon’s Exmoor National Park.
