After an early career in tourism development and running numerous tourist information centres, Darren Flint has evolved his working days from tourism marketer to environmental conservationist, taking in guidebook research and travel writing along the way – including as co-author of Bradt’s Dumfries & Galloway (Slow Travel). He spent a decade working for the RSPB before completing a Master’s degree in Environmental Conservation. Since 2013 he has been involved with local community environmental projects in Dumfries and Galloway and across southern Scotland, in which he combines practical skills with in-depth knowledge and an ability to inspire people of all ages to learn more about the natural world through art, language and the written word. He enjoys using his local knowledge to spread the word about Dumfries and Galloway and guiding those he comes in to contact with to make the most of this beautiful area.
