Johno Ellison grew up in Yorkshire (UK), where he developed a particular fascination with the River Wharfe – his in-depth explorations inspiring his book Walking the Wharfe, published by Bradt Travel Guides. After school he joined the Royal Air Force to train as a helicopter pilot, before attending Aston University in Birmingham where he studied Sustainable Product Design. After graduation, along with two friends, he bought a vintage London black cab and spent 15 months driving through 50 countries, setting Guinness World Records for the Longest and the Highest Taxi Journey Ever – an adventure captured in his book It’s on the meter. Since 2014 he has lived in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) with his wife Lindsay and their three cats, where he works as a freelance Product Designer as well as teaching online engineering and design courses to students from all around the world.
