Lizzie Williams is a travel writer based in Cape Town, South Africa. Originally from London, she has notched up almost 20 years to date on the road in Africa; first as an expedition leader on overland trucks and now as a guidebook author. Her first introduction to the continent was backpacking as a 20-year-old around then Apartheid South Africa, followed by an arduous trip to see the mountain gorillas in Zaire when gorilla tourism was still in its infancy. She has written numerous magazine articles, product brochures and websites on African travel, and is author of over 30 guidebooks for various publishers on South Africa, Namibia, Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Uganda. She has visited 20 African countries, none of which were quite as engrossing as Nigeria.
