Nick Garbutt has forged a career primarily as a wildlife photographer and author, combining this with lecturing and leading photographic tours throughout the world. He is particularly interested in tropical rainforests and island wildlife, and is a well-known authority on thrilling natural-history destinations such as Madagascar and Borneo. Garbutt’s other major passion is cats. He has seen and photographed all seven of the world’s big cat species in the wild and is a partner photographer with Panthera, the world’s foremost cat conservation organisation. Garbutt has twice been a category winner in the prestigious Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition and is author of several acclaimed books including Handbook of Mammals of Madagascar plus Bradt’s Madagascar Wildlife and 100 Animals to See Before They Die.
