Bio
Tim Burford studied languages at Oxford University. In 1991, after five years as a publisher, he began writing guidebooks for Bradt, firstly on hiking in east-central Europe and then on backpacking and ecotourism in Latin America, particularly Chile, Argentina and Uruguay. He has now written nine original books for Bradt and updated several others – the publications stretching from Uruguay to Uzbekistan – as well as writing Rough Guides to Romania, Alaska and Wales. Burford leads hiking trips in Europe’s mountains, loves train travel in Europe, flies only across oceans (and as rarely as possible), takes any excuse to get on a bike and explore (whether in his hometown of Cambridge or further afield), and blogs at unraveltravel.org.
